MADONNA gave us the best Super Bowl halftime performance and probably the greatest 12 minutes of television that we’ve ever been blessed with. No one knew what the queen was going to do but when that parade of Roman warriors came out marching alongside and carrying the queen, we were sure it would not disappoint. The Cleopatra-like queen started out her set “Vogue” -ing with Haus of Ninja. The 3D lights coupled with a fantastic display of vogueing made for the best touchdown of the night. Then She was a cheerleader, cheering on L-U-V alongside M.I.A. and Nicki Minaj for the very bubblegum pop song “Give Me All Your Luvin’.” She proved that even at 53 she can do gymnastics/handstands and in stilettos none-the-less. She got her “Music” on with LMFAO and SHUFFLED with them while appropriately reciting their lyric at the end “I’m sexy and I know it.” She sang tid-bits of “Open Your Heart” and “Express Yourself” with Cee Lo Green and then launched into the gospel of “Like a Prayer.” She then quickly, and almost as if it were heavenly, disappeared from the stage in a cloud of smoke.
The stellar reviews came in today and they are nothing less of miraculous. Even Madonna’s much younger pop co-horts were in absolute awe via their Twitter statements. 114 million people tuned in to watch the halftime show making it the most watched in history. Madonna never lost her throne as QUEEN of POP but she assured us all last night, she’s not going anywhere. :)
